Ceramic Metal Halide 315W 4200K PGZ18 Base Lamp is produced using high-grade ceramic arc tube technology and specific horticultural gas blend that creates optimal spectral output for healthy plant growth.
C.M.H. technology creates high energy P.A.R./P.P.F. levels with low heat at full spectrum which is closer to sunlight and produces healthier plant growth and larger yield.
With a Colour Rendering Index (CRI) of >90%, C.M.H. is perfect for growing high quality produce and essential oil extraction. Ceramic Metal Halide is also known as C.M.H./C.D.M./L.E.C.
The PCA ceramic arc tube permits the lamp to operate at higher internal temperatures increasing colour rendering, output and efficiency.
PCA resists interaction with the chemicals inside the tube which stabilizes the chemical mix over the life of the lamp, thereby improving colour consistency and PAR/PPF level maintenance.
Pulse-start technology enables faster start up & restrike time, longer lamp life and increased lumen maintenance.
How to use a Ceramic Metal Halide 315W 4200K PGZ18 Base Lamp.
Ceramic Metal Halide 315W 4200K PGZ18 Base Lamps use a bayonet type fitting (PGZ18 Base) and need to be used with a dedicated C.M.H. reflector with the correct type of lamp holder, or with an E40 to C.M.H. adaptor.
C.M.H. lamps must only be used with C.M.H. ballasts which are designed to run them. C.M.H. lamps are not compatible with H.P.S. or standard M.H. ballasts.
If you are replacing an old lamp, remove the old lamp by grasping it and giving it about a quarter turn anti-clockwise. The lamp can then be removed from the lamp-holder.
Always use a clean cloth to hold the glass of the new one. This is because the oils on the skin of your hands (even if they have just been washed) can cause damage to the lamp when it is switched on and becomes hot. Note that the 2 pins on the base of the lamp have different size rings on the ends of the pins.
Insert the base of the lamp into the lamp holder ensuring that the small ring enters the small hole in the base of the lamp-holder, and the large ring enters the large hole in the base of the lamp-holder. Give the lamp about a quarter turn clockwise to lock it in place (until it turns no more). Your grow light can now be switched on.
Warning: Although C.M.H. lamps produce less heat per watt than other types of H.I.D. lamp, when they are switched on they still run extremely hot. As with all HID grow lamps it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires.
In particular avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion.
PLEASE NOTE: All C.M.H. lamps need to be bedded in as follows: on first illumination lamps need to be run continuously for a minimum of 15-30 minutes (although we would recommend that they are first run for much longer such as several hours). This run-in process allow the metals within the lamp to fuse correctly.
FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN LAMP FAILURE!
